Almost! I was literally shaking in my office bidding on this. I was sure it would go for a lot more than I would pay, but it didn’t so I fought it out to the end...

Kinja'd!!!

I’m still chatting with the seller to see if we can work out a deal. The hang up for me is that the car is in Holland so that will add another 3k ish to whatever I end up paying. I’m going to have to sleep on it, but I am in love with the car! By sleep I mean say up all night thinking about it...

Yea I’ve been thinking about it for a week straight. I thought I’d at least get some closure today! It’s a good position to be in as I can buy or not buy, but I’d almost rather have won or lost flat out.

I hate the reserve price cowards. They should start the bidding at that minimum.

What I would’ ve done is bid way over what the reserve could possibly be, then retract due to entering the wrong amount. Then, you can immediately enter the correct bid, the actual max you wanted to bid in the first place.

That’s a cool one. I was one of the bidders at the bitter end (ha!) on a (significantly cheaper) BaT car today too, although at least that one was no reserve. I was not the high bidder in the end but it definitely had me sweating.

I had a 74, Inka orange, it was a blast and I would love to have kept it, but it was just too rusty.  Restored a decade or more ago, exterior rust was repaired, but it was rotting from the inside out.  It was a hoot to drive stock, this one looks like a hoot and a half.

I note that if this had a full black interior I would have gone $500- 1000 higher, because I am finicky.

Damn, I just found the thread on this story. What an awesome adventure! I’m thinking of importing an European E36

That would be sweet. The few that I’ve seen on bring a trailer have gone for a lot. If you have any questions just ask. Also this.
